Ordinance 0006ORDI NANCE NO. 6 . An ordinance to license, tax and regulate theatres, shows, ex- -1 hibitions and public amusements. Be it ordained by the Council of the town of Edmonds. SECTION 1: All theatres, operas, concerts, shcris, exhibitions and other public amusements hereafter connacted in the torn of Lf .�C'te.3 Edmonds, shall be licensed and taxed at the following rates, namely: For circus (exclusive of side shows), $50.00 per dwy. For side shows connected wit:4- the circus ten dollars per dot For skating rink ten dollars per month. For theatre, opera, concertin show, exhibition and other public i,*fly4 amusements, except as otherwise kerein provided, $2.50 per day, or (p l o 6- $40.00 per month. 6 f SECTION 2: Every person who, as proprietor, lessee, manager L or agent shall hereafter conduct; manage or superintend any theatre, opera, concert, show!, exhibition or public amusement of any kind in the Town of Edmonds without first having obtained a license therefor, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, on conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not more than one hundred dollars or imprisonment for any term not exceeding thirty days. f SECTION 3: The tow_a clerk shall issue a license certificate for any theatre, opera, concert, show, exhibition orother public d"I(I" amusement, to any applicant therefor upon the presentation and -t filing of the Treasurer's receipt for the license fee or tax specified in Section 1 of this Ordinance and not otherwise. SECTION 4: The license certificate shall specify the kind of amusement and place licensed, the amount paid therefor, and to 3 �zL�-� the time or date for which it is issued; and the same shall authorize only the kind of amusement therein specified, and only a/t� the place and time therein designated. !� �`- SECTION 5: No license issued under the provisions of this ordinance shall authorize or afford any protection to any inde- cent or immoral or unlawful exhibition, performance, amusement, pastime or practice. �0-VI $EC^1ION 6: The provisions of this Ordinance shall not in any manner apply to church entertainments, Christmas trees, school or Sunday school concerts, exhibitions or entertainments, or to any concert or entertainment given for the benefit of any church, school, Sunday school, cr charitable object, by any literary or musical or amateur company composed of residents of the town, or to any agricultural or mechanical fair, or art ex- hibition under the auspices of any association composed of resi- dents of the town. SECTIO-d 7: That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage, approval and publication. Passed by the Council of the town of Edmonds the 20th day of October 1890.
