Ordinance 0048ORDIJAVCE iio. 48. An Ordinance to prevent and punish gambling within the Town of Edmonds. Be it ordained by the Council of the Town of Edmonds. SECTLD-j 1: whoever deals, plays at, wages anything of value on, or in any manner takes part in, or whoever carries on, or causes to be opened, or who conducts, sets up, keeps, or exhibits any game of faro, monee- roulette, lansquenet, rouge et noir, rondo, poker, draw poker, keno, or E.O. or Roulette table, or shuffle board, or gameing table whatever, for the purpose of gambling, or any game played with cards, dice or any device for money, checks, credit, or any representative of value; or whoever shall have in his possession to be used for such purpose any gameing device whatsoever, shall be G guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be pun- W" Ished by a fine of not more than three hundred dollars, and shall be imprisoned not to exceed three months. SECTIOI 2: Whoever shall keep or maintain any gambling house �OAO' or room or any place where betting is done, within the Town of Edmonds, or shall knowingly permit any such room or place to be so kept in, or upon any building, premises, steamboat, raft, or other 45 watercraft known to be controlled by him or her, or whoever shall procure or permit any persons to come together in any house, pre- mises, or place occupied or owned by him or her, or under his or her control, for the purpose of gameing, or whoever shall for tie purpose of gameing, keep or permit to be kept therein, any Keno table, faro bank, shuffle boards, cards, or other instruments, de- vice, or thing commonly used for the purpose of gameing, to be used for that purpose, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding JIM three hundred dollars, and imprisonment not exceeding three months. SECTION 3: That whenever any person or persons shall be com--I victed under the provisions of this Ordinance, and he or slLe shall] 41 be fined, in addition to his or her sentence of imprisonment, andg-� the said person or persons shall fail to pay said fine, he or she shall be imprisoned one day for every two dollars of said fine and costs. SECTION 4: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed., gassed by the Council this 7th day of,June A.D. 1895. Attest: J.H.Dowd, Clerk.
