Ordinance 005855 08DIL.:ICE 110. 58. An Ordinance regulating the licer_sir_•g and taxatior of Auctior- eers, hawkers and peddlers. Be it ordained by the Courcil of the Town of Edmonds. SLCTIOh 1: That every Auctioneer, hawker or peddler, except- �& ing farmers ar_.d fishermen selling the products of their own labor, within_ the Town. of Edmonds, shall, prior to engaging in such oc- Cupation, obtain a license in the manner prescribed in this Ordi- rarce and pay therefor into the. Town Treasury at the rate of fifty dollars per arnum; provided, that this Section shall not apply to ary public officer, executor, administrator, guardian or trustee, who shall sell or offer for sale property according to law. SECTIOL 2: To license shall be issued under the provisions of [o � this Ordinance arty to citizens of the United States, or persor.�.s wh❑ have declared their intention to become citizens of the United States. i SECTIOi 3: T.o license shall be issued under the provisions o-ap this Ordinance authorizing the sale of prize.packages, or distribu- tion_ of prizes in ary form by chance or lot. SECTIOF 4: Applications for licenses under this Ordi=arce shall be made in writing on application. to the Town- Clerh or- bl€: to be furnished by him for that purpose, ara such applicatior shall. state definitely the article,or articles to be sold, advertised or carvassed for, and shall be accompanied by the affidavit of appli- cant showing either that such applicant is a citizen of the United States, or has declared his intertior to become such. When such applicatior and affidavit and receipt of the Town Treasurer, for the required amount is filed with the Town Clerk, he shall issue the license applied for. The persons so licer.sed shall be limited to the articles stated in his application. SECTI M 5:. Every person who shall engage in the business or the occupation_ of an auctioreer, havfxer, or peddler within_ the �4,� Town. of Edmonds, without first obtaining a license therefor, as provided in this Ordinance, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and or conviction_ thereof, shall be punished by a fine in any sum not exceedir_g one hundred dollars or by imprisonment for a term not0nn t4,ax� exceeding thirty days, or both such fine and imprisonment. SECTIOU 6: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance, are hereby repealed. Bassed by the Council this first day of lovember 1895.
