An Ordinance to prevent animals running at large within ceer
tair limits of the Town of Edmonds, Wash.
Be it ordained by the Council of the Tovir o� Edmonds, Wash.
SECTIOrT 1; That all bulls, and all vicious or breachy
cattle, and all horses, mules, sheep, goats, swine and other
animals of such species, shall not be permitted to run at large F 74A
within the following limits of the Townof Edmonds, towit: ,
Beginning at a point at low water mark, west of and oppositey�
to the Section line between Sections 231, 24, 25 and 26, Township
27, Range 3 East; thence East on said Section line to the North-
west corner of the r:orthwest quarter of Section 26; thence South
80 rods; thence East 160 rods; thence North 80 rods; thence East
160rods; thence North 160 rods; thence West 160 rods; thence rorth
80 rods; thence West to low water line; thence Southwesterly a-
long low water line to place of beginning. ,f
SECTION 2: The Town Marshal or any public officer of said
Town shall take up and impound any and all of the aforesaid
animals found running at large within the limits described in
Section 1 of this Ordinance, and for each day or part of a day
that any such animals shall be impounded, the owner thereof shall
pay to the Town Marshal fifty cents for the care and keeping of
each animal and. the further sum of fifty cents for each animal
for impounding fee.
SECTI Or 3: If at the expiration of two days the amount so J.CL -- 4�
due shall not have been paid the Marshal shall proceed to give
at least five days notice, to be published in the official news-
paper of the Town, or posted in at least three conspicuous places,

setting forth the time and place, when and where he will expose
the said animal or animals for sale at public auction at which time
and place he shall expose the said animal or animals to sale at
public auction and out of the proceeds thereof he.shall pay all
the aforesaid expenses, and all other necessary expenses connect-
ed therewith, and he shall pay the residue into the Town Treasury.
The notices shall describe the said animals with certainty and
shall state to whom, if anyone, the said Town Marshal supposes
the said animal or animals belong, and if said owrers' name is wholly
unknown to the Marshal that fact shall be stated in said notices.
If such owner be known to the Marshal and can be found within the
Town. a copy of such notice shall be served upon him at least one
day prior to the sale.
SECTION 4: The Town Marshal shall file with the Clerk or
Mayor within five days,after such sale a report in writing, setting
forth all the above matters touching such sale; said report shall
be signed by the Marshal and shall be conclusive of the facts
therein stated.
SECTION 5: For all services not provided for in this Ordinar-
ce the Town Marshal shall be allowed the usual fees for similar
services, payable out of the proceeds of said sale.
370TIOr 6; the owner off such animal or animals may have'
a•� same delivered to him at ary time before the sale by paying all
accrued expenses; at any timt after such sale on application to
the Too+r. Courc 1, such owner shall be entitled to, a Warrant on the
Town Treasurer for any surplus of such sale which may have been
paid to the said Treasurer.
"!X SECTION 7: The owner of any such animal or animals may re-
deem the same at any time within thirty days after the sale by
paying to the purchaser thereof the full amount paid by him for
such animal together with the expenses of keeping, and in addi-
tion thereto, one percent. per month on the amount so paid.
SECTION 8: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in con
flict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
