Ordinance 0126k * * * * :c ORDIFAE, CE r, 0 • 120. Lm Ordinance to prevent animals from running at large within certain limits of the Town of Edmonds. Be it ordained by the Council of the Town of Edmonds. SEOTIOU 1: That cattle, mules, horses, sheep, swine, goats, and other animals of such species shall not be permitted to run at large within the following limits of the Town of Edmonds,towit: Beginning at a point at low water mark Jest of and opposite of the Section line between Sections 23, 24, 25, 26, Township 27, Range 3 East; thence East or, said Section line to the northwest ` corner of the orthwest Quarter of the Tortheast Quarter of Section 26; thence South 80 rods; thence East 160 rods, thence Korth 80 rods, thence East 160 rods, thence Forth 160wegy, thence Nest 160 Westrods, thence Torah 80 rods, thence West to low Iine, thence South- westerly along the low water line to the place of beginning, ex- cept as hereinafter provided. Al SECTIO11 2: This Ordinance shall not effect cattle until nine- ty days after its adoption. iSECTIOT 3: Each family in the Town shall be permitted to have } w�wo Cows running at large within the above limits. P — 76 ;4 et SECTIOT� 4: The Town Marshal shall take up and impound any and 'Vtall of the aforesaid animals found running at large within the limits described in Section one of this Ordinance, and for each day or part of day that any such animals shall be impounded, the owner thereof shall pay to the Tovin Marshal fifty cents as impounding fee and the further sum of fifty cents for the care and keeping of each animal. SECTIor 5: If, at the expiration of two days the amount so due shall not be paid, the Town Marshal shall proceed to give at least C �! five days notice, to be done by posting in three public places in the Town, of the time and place wher and where he shall expose the said animal or animals for sale by public auction, at which time and place he shall at public auction expose the said animal or animals for sale, and out of the proceeds thereof he shall pay all the ex- penses aforesaid and all other necessary ex1Denses, and he shall pay the residue to the Town. Treasurer. The said notice shall describe the said animal or animals with reasonable certainty and shall state to whom, if anyone, the said Town Marshal supposes said animal or animals belong, and if such owner or owners name is wholly un- known to said Marshal, that fact shall be so stated in said notice. If such owner shall be known to the Town Marshal and can be found within the Town, a copy of such notice shall be served upan him at least one day prior to said sale. SECTIOU 6: The Towr Xarshal shall file with the Clerk within Cttv*days after such sale, a report in writing, setting forth all the above matters touching any such sale; such report shall be signed by such Marshal and the said report shall be conclusive of the facts thereir stated. 75 SECTIOE 7: For all services not provided for in this nance the Town Marshal shall be allowed the usual fees for services payable out of the proceeds of said sale. Ordi- Z' ao similar'Yw1 SECTION 8: The owner of such animal or animals may have the same delivered to him at any time before the sale by paying all ac- crued expenses, or at any time after Bach sale on application to the Town Council such owner shall be entitled to a Warrant mn the Treasurer for any surplus of such sale which may have been paid to the said Treasurer. SECTIOL. 9: The owner of any such animal or animals may redeem the same at any time within thirty days after the sale by paying to the purchaser thereof the full amount paid by him for such ani- mal or animals and in addition thereto one percent. per month on the amount paid.
