Ar Ordir_arce prohibitirg the holdirg of darces it ary base-
mer._t, sub -basement or other room below the surface of the grourd,N
which does rot have issuing therefrom, a stairway leading directly
to the outdoors; providirg a peralty for the violatior thereof,
and repealing all Ordirarces ar_d parts of Ordirarces it corflict
therewith.
Be it ordained by the Oity Courcil of the City of Edmor_ds:
SECTIOT, 1: It shall be urlawful for ary per: or to hold, mair-
tair, carry or, cord -act or operate, whether as agert or principal,
or for ary person: to permit or allow to be held, cor_ducted, oper-
ated, carried or, or maintaired upon premises over which he has
owrership or cortrol, ary public dance, or cafe dance, as the sr e
are row defined by the Ordinances of the City -of Edmonds, or any
darce or darcing party where darcirg is authorized, provided for
or allowed in corr_ectior_ with the servirg of meals or other re-
freshmer_ts, in ary basemert, sub-basemert or other room below the
surface of the ground, which basemert, sub-basemert or other
room does rot have a stairway issuing therefrom and leading direct-
ly to the out doors.
SECTION 2. Every person fourd guilty of violating any of I

the provisions of this Orclirance shall be punished by a fine of
rot to exceed Ore Hundred ($100.00) Dollars, or by imprisormert
ir the City jail of rot to exceed thirty (30) days, or by both
such fire and imprisonment.
SECTIOE 3: All Ordirarces ar_d parts of Ordirarces in cor_-
flict herewith, be, and the same are, hereby repealed.
