Arj Ordiiance relatirg to and regulating certain vehicular
traffic within the limits of the City of Edmonds, providing for
the lieersirg of ve,icles used it such traffic, providing per_al-
,U ties for the violatior of this Ordir_arce and repealing all Ordi-
rarces it coxf Il. et herewith.
Be it ordairecl by the Council of the City of Edmonds, Wash.:
' SECTIO1 1: It shall be ur_lawful for ary persor, firm, or

Oorporatior to drive, propel, draw, move, convey, or transport
or cause to be drive..._, propelled, drawn, moved, corveyed or
trar_sported over, up.)r, alorg or across ary public street, road
or highway within th�3 corporate limits of the City of Edmords,
ary vehicle or ob j ec-5 which, with or Without its load, shall be
of such weight or shall have ary wheels or tires so made, con-
structed, formed or shaped or so equipped with spikes, cleats,
lugs or other attachments or projections as to destroy or per-
mar.:ertly irjure such street, road or highway, or the surface

SECTIM 2: It shall be unlawful for ary persor., firm or
corporation to operate any vehicle over, upor, along or across
ei"
ary of the streets or alleys of the City of Ednmords whose gr oss�i
weight ir_cludirg load is more than 24,400 pourds or ary vehicle
having a greater weight that 22,400 pounds on one axle or any
vehicle having a combir_ed veluht of over 800 pourds per inch
width of tire upor any wheel bearirg upon: the surface of ary such
street or alley (said width of tire in the case of solid rubber
tares to be measured between the flarges of the rim); provided,
that no motor truck, or trailer shall be drivem over, upor or a-
lorg any of such streets or alleys with a load exceedir_g its
licensed capacity.
SECTI01, 3: It shell be urlawful for ary person, firm or cor-
poratior to operate any motor truck or motor truck trailer,- other Yi
�.n■Jf1har_ such as are engagedthe dray or transfer busiress, ar�i�
cause either of the same to be operated over, upon. or aloxg ary r
street or alley of the City of Edmords without having procured a
licerse and license plates from the City Clerk, payment of licers
fee of the following basis for ore year, (except as provided it
Section 5 hereof) having first beer, made to the City Treasurer:

Ore of said licerse P plates so rccured from the City Clerk
shall be attached to the left side of said vehicle, and the other
to the right side of said vehicle and attached in such marrer
that they will be conspicuous, and it such marrer that they car,
be plainly seer and read at all times.
SECTION 4: It shall be unlawful for ary persor, firm or cor-
poratior: to operate any motor truck or motor truck trailer or
cause either of the same to be operated in the dray business, with �
it the limits of the City of Edmonds without first having obtained
a dray licerse from the City Clerk and having paid to the City
Treasurer therefor, the license fee, which shall be the anourt
provided for in Section_ 3 hereof as the truck licerse for such
motor truck or motor truck trailer, plus the additional sum of
2.00.
For the purpose of this Ordinance, ary motor truck or motor
truck trailer will be deemed to be engaged in the dray busiress
wher_ the use to which it is put is that of trar_.sporting goods,
wares or merchandise of others for pay or reward.
SECTIOL 5: All licenses hereir provided for shall expire on
December 31st of each year, and the licerse fees provided for in
this Ordinarce may be pro -rated at ore -half year ir_tervals at the
discretion of the City Council; provided that all licerse fees
for the year 1931 shall be for ore -half the yearly rate. qb-

SECTI01; 6: It shall be unlawful to operate any passenger
automobile for hire, or ary automobile stage, over, upon or a-
lorg ary of the Streets or alleys of the City of Edmor_.ds with-
out having procured a licerse ard- license plates from the City
Clerk, first havirg made payment to the City Treasurer or the
following basis for ore year: �ab
Automobiles for hire or taxicabs, all classes, $5.00 per
year. Automobile stages ergaged it irte.rcity traffic, 10.00 10
per year.
SECTI01 7: Any persor_, copartnership, compary, corporation
or association of persors violating any of the provisions of this v? �� Ordir.:ance shall, upor corvictior, be punished by a fire rot to ex-
ceed $100.00 or by imprisormert in the City jail not to exceed
thirty (30) days, or by both such fire and imprisonment, ar_a. when
ary compar_y, associatior of persons, or corporation violates any
of the nrovisiors of this Ordirance the Presider_:t, Vice-Presi-
dert, Secretary, Treasurer, Imanager or ary person having charge
of the busiress of such company, association of persons or cor-
poratior_ shell be deemed to be the persor havirg violated the
Ordirar_ce ard shall be punished for the violation thereof in the
same marrer as if he, personally, had violated the same.

SECTIOT 8: If ary Sectior_ or provision of this Ordirance
shall be adjudged to be invalid, such adjudication shall rot
affect the validity of the Ordirance as a whole or ary provi-
si section or pert thereof not adjudged invalid.
SECTIOL 9: == Ordirarces or parts of Ordinances it con-
flict herewith are =-: reby repealed.
SECTIOL, 10: This Ordirance shall take effect and be it force
from and after its passage, approval and publicatior as required
by law.
