Ordinance 594ORDINANCE NO. 594
AN ORDINANCE regulating public dances in the City of Edmonds, amending
Section 2 of Ordinance No. 490, and excepting from the provisions of said
Section 2 of Ordinance No. 490 charitable, benevolent, and community or-
ganizations, and duly licensed cabarets, providing for the issuance of
cabaret linenses, defining a cabaret license, providing penalties for
violations thereof and repealing all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances
in conflict herewith.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Section 2 of Ordinance No. 490 is amended to exclude
therefrom charitable, benevolent, and community organizations, and all per-
sons, businesses, partnerships, corporations and other organizations holding
a cabaret license as defined herein.
Section 2. That for the purposes of this Ordinance a cabaret shall be
defined as follows;
Any public place of business wherein food or beverages are dispensed
and dancing is allowed or permitted without charge.
Section 3. That the license fee for :operating a cabaret shall be
Twenty -Five Dollars (0"25.00) per year; said year to run from the date of
the issuance of such license.
Section 4. That any person desiring a cabaret license shall make
application to the City Clerk who, upon approval by the Council and upon
payment of the license fee,shall issue such license.
Section 5. That it shall be unlawful for any person, busines s,
partnership, corporation or other organization to operate a cabaret
without having a license therefore; and than any person, business,
partnership, corporation or other organization so violating: this ordin-
ance shall, upon conviction therefore, be punished by a fine of
not more than Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) or by imprisonment for
not more than thirty days or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 6. That all Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 7. That this Ordinance shall be effective five days after
passage and publication.,,
