AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING THE PROVISIONS OF ECC 8.16.030(8) TO
EXTEND 30 MPH SPEED ZONE ON 220TH S.W. TO THE
EASTERN CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, AND
FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME
EFFECTIVE.
WHEREAS, 220th Street S.W. between 76th West and 86th
Place West is currently designated with a speed limit of 30 mph;
WHEREAS, other portions of 220th S.W. are designated as
having a 35 mph speed limit;
WHEREAS, however, the portion of 220th S.W. from 76th
West to the eastern City limits is not designated by ordinance
and therefore under state law would have a speed limit of 25 mph;
and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that safety would be
enhanced by having a consistent speed limit along 220th S.W. from
the eastern City limits to 86th Place West; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Edmonds City Code Section 8.16.030(8)
is hereby amended to read as follows:
8.16.030 INCREASING SPEED LIMIT IN CERTAIN
ZONES

SPEED AT ALL TIMES OR
NAME OF STREET LIMIT (DURING DAYTIME)
8. 220th S.W. from the
eastern city limits
to 86th Place W. 30 mph all times

Section 2. This ordinance, being an exercise of a
power specifically delegated to the City legislative body, is not
subject to referendum, and shall take effect five (5) days after
passage and publication of the ordinance or a summary thereof
consisting of the title.
