ORDINANCE NO. 2914
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON, AMENDING THE PROVISIONS OF
SECTION 4.50.020 TO EXEMPT MASSAGE CENTERS
EMPLOYING ONLY LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPISTS AND
FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME
EFFECTIVE.
WHEREAS, recent amendments to state law limit the
licensing authority of the City with respect to licensed massage
therapists,
WHEREAS, the City anticipated such changes by prior
amendments to its own ordinance but some ambiguity may remain
requiring amendment, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 4.50.020 EXEMPTIONS, (A) is hereby
amended by the addition of a new Subparagraph 7 to read as follows:
4.50.020 Exemptions.
A.
The provisions of this Chapter do not
apply to:
7. Massage parlors where all
massage services are performed
solely by massage therapists
duly licensed in accordance
with the laws of the State of
Washington.

Section 2. This ordinance, being an exercise of a power
specifically delegated to the City legislative body, is not subject
to referendum, and shall take effect five (5) days after passage
and publication of an approved summary thereof consisting of the
title.
