Ordinance 29370006.90000 WSS /are 05/14/93 ORDINANCE NO. 2937 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AMENDING THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 2.10 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE CONFIRMATION AND DUTIES OF CITY OFFICERS TO ADD A NEW SECTION 2.10.080 MAYOR'S EXECUTIVE SECRETARY IN ORDER TO PROVIDE AT WILL STATUS WITH RESPECT TO THAT POSITION AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE. WHEREAS, the position of the Mayor's Executive Secretary is currently vacant, and WHEREAS, such position due to ambiguities in the City's Personnel Manual has been interpreted to provide just cause termination rights to the person holding the position, WHEREAS, the Mayor's Executive Secretary is a position in which the employee must work closely with the chief executive and intangibles such as style, working relationship, and the need for the confidence of the chief executive are critical to the position as well as difficult.to quantify in terms of job performance, WHEREAS, the working relationship between the Mayor and the Mayor's Executive Secretary is critical to the efficient functioning of the City and can be enhanced by allowing each chief executive to select a qualified individual with whom the Mayor can work closely and with utmost confidence, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 4MO.1 -1- Section 1. Chapter 2.10 Confirmation of Duties of City Officers is hereby amended by the addition of a new section 2.10.080 Mayor's Executive Secretary to read as follows: 2.10.080 Mayor's Executive Secretary. The position of Mayor's Executive Secretary shall be an at will position with the Executive Secretary serving at the pleasure of the Mayor. The salary for the position is established by the annual salary ordinance. The terms and conditions of employment as well as job duties being set forth in a job description developed by the Mayor with the concurrence of the City Council. Section 2. Effective Date.
