Ordinance 27240006.040.001A WSS/klt 06/28/89 ORDINANCE NO. 2724 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, REPEALING ORDINANCE 2721, RE-ENACTING THE SUBSTANTIVE PROVISIONS THEREOF WHICH AMEND THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 19.75 BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION 19.75.075 REQUIRING AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEMS IN RESIDENTIAL (R) OCCUPANCIES WITH THREE OR MORE STORIES OR WITH FIVE OR MORE UNITS, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND ESTABLISHING AN IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, The City Council enacted Ordinance 2721 on June 20, 1989, and said ordinance contained a declaration of emergency and an immediate effective date, WHEREAS, such action requires a unanimous vote of the Council, WHEREAS, it appears that one councilmember was unclear regarding the action taken, and WHEREAS, the entire Council, being fully advised, now wishes to reaffirm its prior action by repealing Ordinance 2721 and re-enacting it with a declaration of emergency and an immediate effective date, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: ction 1. Ordinance 2721 is hereby repealed and in its place, Chapter 19.75 of the Edmonds Community Development Code is hereby amended by the addition of a new section 19.75.075 Ai3T0UATIc SPRINKLER SYSTEM$ to read as follows: 19,75,075'O IC PR. ER SYST S An automatic sprinkler system shall be installed throughout -every Group R Occupancy three or more stories in height or containing 5 or more dwelling units and/or guest rooms. Residential or quick WSS513090 '1- response standard sprinkler heads shall be used in the dwelling unit and guest room portions of the building. S-ection_2. This amendment does not impact multi -family residential properties of four or fewer units and therefore is not required by RCW Chapter 19.27 to be submitted to the State Building Code Council for review and approval prior to its effective date. Section 3. The City Council hereby declares that an emergency exists necessitating that this ordinance take effect immediately upon passage by unanimous vote of the members of the City Council.
