ORDINANCE NO. 3012
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION 2.10.030 OF THE
EDMONDS CITY CODE REGARDING POSITION OF POLICE
CHIEF AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL
BECOME EFFECTIVE.
WHEREAS, it was recently brought to the City's attention that Section 2.10.030
of the Edmonds City Code mistakenly referenced RCW 4.12.050, and
WHEREAS, as a part of the City's general housekeeping the City Council wishes
to update its code in order to reference the correct statute, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2.10.030 POLICE CHIEF of the Edmonds City Code is
hereby amended to read as follows:
2.10.030 POLICE CHIEF
Pursuant to the authority of RCW 41.12.050, the position of Police
Chief has been removed from Civil Service. The Police Chief
shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to confirmation by
majority vote of the City Council.
Section 2. Severability. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction,
such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other
section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance.

Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance, being an administrative action, is not
subject to referendum and shall take effect five (5) days after publication of an approved
summary thereof consisting of the title.
