ORDINANCE NO. 3036
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON, AMENDING THE PROVISIONS OF
EDMONDS CITY CODE SECTION 4.72.040(B)(1) TO
INCREASE THE HOME OCCUPATION BUSINESS LICENSE
FEE, REPEALING SECTION 4.72.040(D) TO REMOVE THE
ONE -HALF FEE FOR BUSINESSES BEGINNING JULY 31
AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME
EFFECTIVE.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there have been no increases in its
business license fees since 1981, that a $20 fee is currently being charged for businesses with
only one to three employees and the Finance Committee, as previously indicated, is in support
for increasing the home occupation business license fee to an identical level, and
WHEREAS, making the fee uniform would eliminate errors in processing, and
WHEREAS, processing of the home occupation business fee requires the same
amount of departmental time as regular business license review, and
WHEREAS, the City Council Finance Committee has found that the same amount
of staff time is involved in processing a license regardless of whether such licenses were for the
first half of the year or the second half of the year, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Edmonds City Code subsection 4.72.040(B)1) Fee- Terms - Penalty
is hereby amended to read as follows:

4.72.040 FEE - TERMS- PENALTY
B. Fees for the annual license issued hereunder shall be as
follows:
1. Licenses for business required to obtain a home
occupation permit pursuant to Chapter 20.20 of the
Edmonds Community Development Code shall be
$20.00 per year.
Section 2. Edmonds City Code subsection 4.72.040(D) is hereby repealed.
Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance, being an exercise of a power specifi-
cally delegated to the City legislative body, is not subject to referendum, and shall take effect
five (5) days after passage and publication of an approved summary thereof consisting of the
title.
