Ordinance 31250006.030.052(A) WSS /clr 10/23/95 12/06/95 R:10 /21 /96gjz R:11 /07 /96gjz R:12 /10 /96gjz ORDINANCE NO. 3125 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, LEVYING THE GENERAL TAXES FOR THE CITY OF EDMONDS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 1997, ON ALL PROPERTY, BOTH REAL AND PERSONAL, IN SAID CITY WHICH IS SUBJECT TO TAXATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING SUFFICIENT REVENUE TO CARRY ON THE SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS OF SAID CITY FOR THE ENSUING YEAR AS REQUIRED BY LAW AND ALSO PROVIDING FOR PROPERTY LEVIES FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES AND A NEW PUBLIC SAFETY COMPLEX, AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds, having considered the City's anticipated financial requirements for 1997 and the amounts necessary and available to be raised by ad valorem taxes on real, personal and utility property, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. There shall be and hereby is levied on all real, personal and utility property in the City of Edmonds, subject to taxation, current taxes for the ensuing year M19 - 1 - commencing January 1, 1997, the sum of $5,321,300, which is $2.014513 per $1,000 of assessed valuation levied on property with an estimated assessed valuation of $2,641,482,032 of all said taxable property, for the Current Expense Fund and for the Firemen's Pension Fund as may be necessary to maintain the actuarial soundness of said Firemen's Pension Fund, if any be needed. Section 2. There shall be and is hereby levied current taxes of $1,188,700 which is .45 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation levied on property with an estimated assessed valuation of $2,641,482,032 of all said taxable property, the purpose of which is to fund the provision of emergency medical care and services. Section 3. There shall be and is hereby levied current taxes of $676,340 which is .256046 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation levied on property with an estimated assessed valuation of $2,641,482,032 of all said taxable property, the purpose of which is to fund the construction of a new public safety complex. Section 4. This ordinance. shall be certified to the proper county officials, as provided by law, and taxes herein levied shall be collected and paid to the Administrative Services Director of the City of Edmonds at the time and in the manner provided by the laws of the State of Washington for the collection of taxes for non - charter code cities. Section 5. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance. 8 7 1 1 9 - 2 - Section 6. This ordinance, being an exercise of a power specifically delegated to the City legislative body, is not subject to referendum, and shall take effect five (5) days after passage and publication of the ordinance or a summary thereof consisting of the title.
