ORDINANCE NO. 3192
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION 5.05.060(B) OF THE
EDMONDS CITY CODE RELATING TO DOGS ON PUBLIC
GROUNDS, NOTIFYING THE PUBLIC THAT DESIGNATED
AREAS OF MAPLEWOOD PARK, PINE RIDGE PARK,
SIERRA PARK, CITY PARK, MATHAY - BALLINGER PARK
AND SEAVIEW PARK SHALL BE OPEN TO DOGS, AND
FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME
EFFECTIVE.
WHEREAS, the City Council has previously determined that eight designated
parks should be available for the exercise of dogs, beginning in incremental process with the
intertrails of Yost Park and South Marina Beach Park, and
WHEREAS, the City Parks Department has conducted a test permitting dogs to
be on leash in portions of Maplewood Park, Pine Ridge Park, Sierra Park, City Park, Mathay-
Ballinger Park and Seaview Park, and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to confirm its prior action and to extend the
leash areas in parks which were previously the subject of public hearing, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 5.05.060(B) of the Edmonds City Code relating to dogs on
public grounds is hereby amended to add additional dog exercise areas to read as follows:

5.05.061) Dogs on public grounds.
B. Notwithstanding the restrictions set forth in Section
5.05.060(A), dogs accompanied by their owners may be walked or
exercised while on leash in the following areas:
3. Areas designated for on -leash dog exercise in
Maplewood Park, Pine Ridge Park, Sierra Park, City Park,
Mathay- Ballinger Park and Seaview Park.
Section 2. The Parks and Recreation Director is hereby authorized to post notices
that designated areas within the parks are open to owners and their dogs.
Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance, being an exercise of a power specifi-
cally delegated to the City legislative body, is not subject to referendum, and shall take effect
five (5) days after passage and publication of an approved summary thereof consisting of the
title.
