ORDINANCE NO. 3218
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON, AMENDING THE PROVISIONS OF
SECTION 8.16.030 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE TO
ADDRESS SPEED LIMIT CHANGES ON MAIN STREET
FROM 9TH AVENUE TO ONE BLOCK EAST OF 9TH
AVENUE, 220TH STREET SW FROM THE EASTERN CITY
LIMITS TO SR #99, 238TH STREET SW BETWEEN SR #99
AND SR #104, 244TH STREET SW BETWEEN SR #99 AND
SR #104 BY AMENDING SUBPARAGRAPH 4, 8 AND 10
THEREOF AND ADDING NEW SUBPARAGRAPH 12 AND
FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME
EFFECTIVE.
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the recommendations of the traffic
engineer and determines it appropriate to increase the speeds on certain streets in the City in
recognition of their character as arterials, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Edmonds City Code Section 8.16.030(4) relating to the speed
limit on Main street is hereby amended to increase the speed limit to 30 mph and to read as
follows:

8.16.030 Increasing speed limit in certain zones.
Main Street, 770 feet 30 mph all times
from 5 corners to 9th
Avenue.
Section 2. The Edmonds City Code Section 8.16.030(8) relating to the
speed limit on 220th Street SW, is hereby amended to increase the speed limit to 35 mph and to
read as follows:
8.16.030 Increasing speed limit in certain zones.
(8) 220th Street SW 35 mph all times
from the eastern city
limits to SR #99
Section 3. The Edmonds City Code Section 8.16.030(10) relating to the speed
limit on 238th Street SW, is hereby amended to increase the speed limit to 30 mph and to read as
follows:
8.16.030 Increasing speed limit in certain zones.
10. 238th Street SW 30 mph all times
between SR #99 and
SR #104
Section 4. The Edmonds City Code Section 8.16.030 relating to speed limits is

hereby amended by the addition of a new subparagraph 12 and shall read as follows:
8.16.030 Increasing speed limit in certain zones.
12. 244th Street SW 35 mph all times
from SR #99 to SR
#104
Section 5. Effective Date. This ordinance, being an exercise of a power specifi-
cally delegated to the City legislative body, is not subject to referendum, and shall take effect
five (5) days after passage and publication of an approved summary thereof consisting of the
title.
