Ordinance 33250006.900000 WSS /gjz 9/14/00 ORDINANCE NO. 3325 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AMENDING THE PROVISIONS OF EDMONDS CITY CODE SECTION 10.80.060 RELATING TO THE DATE THE SALARY RECOMMENDATION IS MADE BY THE CITIZENS COMMISSION ON THE SALARIES OF ELECTED OFFICIALS, AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE. WHEREAS, the City Council has established a citizens commission on the salaries of elected officials to make recommendations to the City Council regarding the establishment of salaries for elected officials, and WHEREAS, the current ordinance provides for recommendation no later than the first Monday in November, and WHEREAS, the Citizens Commission has recommended that in order to be most effective, its recommendation should be made earlier in the year so that they may be considered in a neutral, non - political atmosphere and well in advance of the City's annual budget process, and WHEREAS, the City Council deems such an amendment to be in the public interest, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: {WSS449777.DOC;1/00006.090000/1 - I - Section 1. The Edmonds City Code, Section 10.80.060 Salary Schedule Recommendation is hereby amended to read as follows: 10.80.060 Salary schedule recommendation. The Commission shall file its initial schedules of recommended salaries for elected officials of the City with the City Clerk no later than the first Monday in May of each odd numbered year. The signature of the Chair of the Commission shall be affixed to each schedule submitted to the City Clerk. The Chair shall certify that the schedule has been adopted in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance and the rules, if any, of the Commission. Such schedule shall become effective only upon adoption by the City Council and in accordance with state law. Section 2. Effective Date. This ordinance, being an exercise of a power specifi- cally delegated to the City legislative body, is not subject to referendum, and shall take effect five (5) days after passage and publication of an approved summary thereof consisting of the title.
