1947-07-29 City Council MinutesJuly 29, 1947 The Council met intsgeeial session with Mayor Fourtner presiding. The roll call showed all councilmen present. This meeting was called for the hearing on the Third street improvement. A letter was read to the Council with signature of property owners protesting against this improvement. After the checking by the Engineer Wolff he stated that 49.5% protested against it. R motion was made by Councilman Waggoner and seconded by Councilman Siefert that the Attorney drawup the Ordinance for third Street improvement. Motion carried by a unaminous vote of the Council. Mr. Brown again came before the Council with the deed to the West end of Bell Street extended, claiming to be the owner of said property. After some dis- cussion a motion was made by Councilmman Siefert and seconded by Councilman McGinness that the purchase of this property be turned over to the finance committee. Motion carried. Supt. Ray McKeever asked for a vacation of two weeks beginning August 1.. A motion was made by Councilman Siefert and seconded by Councilman Waggoner that he be given two weeks vacation. Motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman McGinness and seconded by Councilman Maxwell that the Engineer write.Sievers & Duecy requesting them to complete the work on L. I. D. 57, as they were instructed in their previous letter, in accordance with the contract, or the job will be considered abandoned. Motion carried. There being no further business the meeting adjourned. mayor City Clerk August 5, 1947 The Council met in regular session with Mayor Fourtner presiding. The roll, call showed all councilmen present. The water collectors and treasurers reports were read. A motion was made by Councilman McGinness and seconded the Councilman Tucker that the bills which were approved by the Auditing Committee be allowed .and warrants be drawn on the proper funds. Motion carried. A letter was read from the Richfield Service Station in which they state their objection of a loading zone for the busses in front of their property on Fifth and Dayton streets. After some discussion a motion was made by Councilman McGibbon and seconded by councilman Clausen that the street Com- mittee report on this at the next meeting. A vote of the Council showed 4 nos and 3 yes. After further discussion a motion was made by Councilaun McGibbon and seconded by councilman Waggoner that a,loading zone be establish- ed 60 feet North�of the Church property on Fifth Avenue. A roll call vote showed McGibbon yes, Waggoner yes, Tucker no, McGinness yes, Siefert yes, Clausen yes and Maxwell yes. A protest was read from the business people and some residents ab ott.ethe routine -of the Ferry traffic from Main Street. There was some discussion .from the business people in regards to this. Mr. Van DLac Stated that his business was being hurt from this also from the.one hour parking which the council gave him permission for. A motion was made by Councilman Tucker that .the restriction on the South side of Main Street be removed. A,motion was made by Councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Tucker that the Ferry traffic be diverted back to the old routing on Main street at the request of the Chamber of Commerce, and the new routing be discontinued A roll call vote showed McGibbon no, Waggoner no, Tucker yes, McGinness yes, Siefert yes, Clausen no and Maxwell no.
