19531201 City Council MinutesNovember 17; 1953 The Council met for its• regular session with Mayor McGibbon presiding.. The roll call showed the following Councilman prevent Tuson, Kincaid, Maxwell and McGinness. A letter was read from postmaster Otto Sorensen asking for permission to place•a collection box on -the Northeast corner -of ninth and Maple streets, this was made a motion by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman maxwell. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Kincaid that the hearing on assessment roll #71 be set for December 22. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by•councilman Maxwell that the attorney draw an amendment to the ordinance for salaries for two street employees at $280 per month, for the rest of this y"ear. -Motion-carried. A motion was made by councilman.McGinness and seconded by,councilman Tuson that the sewer installation as requested by Mr. Ericksen be authorized. A motion was made by councilman Tuson that the over -hanging of signs on streets be referred to the(Fire Chief)and he to bring in a recommendation, also that a building permit be required for caa- ports. A recommendation from the water committee was requested ;that Engineer Reid check the condition of the resouvoir at ninth and Main street wi_•th''the cost to repair it. No definite action was taken on the project. The roll call showed the following Councilmen present Tuson, %lefi, Maxwell, Bishop and McGinness. This special session was for the hearing on L. I. D. 71. Four protests were read to the council. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell that lot 14"in block 80 be eliminated from the assessment roll. Motion carried. A motion was made by a'gugipa@a Bishop and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the assessment be approved and the attorney be instructed to draw the ordinance con- firming the same, said ordinance-tobe paased at -the next meeting of the council.
