AGENDA -
MINUTES — Oct 6, 2014— Otness MOVED, Muir SECONDED, MOTION Approved.
REPORTS -
A. Creative Programs
WOTS — Otness reported that the 2014 conference revenue was in line with past years, around
$17,000 net, down slightly from last year due to extra expenses for the keynote in using the ECA. She
commented that there has already been discussion by staff and steering committee about moving
the keynote back to the movie theater and not advertising it outside the conference. A preliminary
analysis of ratings on the evaluations shows they have been generally good to excellent (about 90%).
Approximately 46% of the 175 completing evaluations were first time attendees this year, and the
attendees generated about 80 bed nights. Final figures will be compiled by the December meetings
of EAC and WOTS steering committee.
4th Avenue Cultural Corridor Interim Art Projects— Chapin asked to review the guidelines for artists
that she prepared with assistance from McLellan. Discussion followed with a few minor suggestions
for wording. Chapin provided information on three artists for Commissioners to review and will
move ahead with inviting them to do designs for the corridor temporary art elements.
3. Community Calendar—.Saether reported on the progress to date, including a test drive training that
was held last week. She summarized the approach that will be used to encourage participation in
providing information for the calendar. The communications consultant hopes to have the new
visitor website and the calendar live by the middle of November.
4. Exhibits — Shaw reported that a new exhibit was hung in the Library of work by Cheryl King. Muir
reported on the new joint show in the EAC display case and EAFF gallery, inviting all to attend the
reception on Nov 6 at 6:30 pm.
5. Community Cultural Plan — Chapin discussed implementation of the Community Cultural Plan (CCP)
strategies, following up on the material sent out for Commissioners to review before the meeting.
Commissioners agreed that the five categories and organization of strategies for each seemed good
for the basis of further meetings. Discussion followed on how the process should work. The role of

EAC is as the convener, but Commissioners discussed how to identify a workable process.
Commissioners also discussed their own specific interest areas. Consensus was reached that initial
focus for community meetings starting in the winter to follow up on implementation of the
Community Cultural Plan will be on communications, arts education, and programs/events.
B. Capital Projects
1. Five Corners — Chapin informed the commission that the roundabout ribbon cutting will be
Friday Nov 7 at 2 pm. Commissioners commented on how well the roundabout functions and
the appropriateness of the artwork.
C. Funding & Administration
1. Future Grants - Chapin updated Commissioners that several grants are under consideration for
2016 that would include a focus on art events and public art elements.
STAFF REPORT— Chapin shared the ECA letter regarding support for Kidstock in 2015 and confirmed with
Commissioners that $1500 was included in the 2015 budget to help sponsor presenters at this event.
