MINUTES — Jan 5, 2015— Postponed for action at March meeting.
STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE INTERVIEW —
Commissioners were introduced to Kyla Blair, a senior at Edmonds Woodway High School. Kyla is also
enrolled in Running Start full time. She is looking for opportunities to showcase creativity and influence
other people. She is currently enrolled in an art class at EcICC. Both of her parents have art backgrounds. She
was exposed to lots of art growing up and wants to work with arts in the community. Commissioners asked
Kyla a series of questions about her favorite art installation, favorite artist or period, and how she would like
to be involved and her availability for volunteer work. Kyla is interested in helping arrange for student shows
in the display case and being involved in other programs time permitting. Chapin will arrange to meet with
Kyla prior to the March meeting to provide more background on Arts Commission programs.
Following the interview there was brief discussion about the candidate. Saether MOVED and Rathvon
SECONDED that Kyla Blair be appointed as Student Representative to the Arts Commission. MOTION carried.
STAFF REPORT — Chapin reported briefly on progress with booking Concerts at City Park, Hazel Miller
Foundation application for HMP concert funding, and the writers' conference.
