She invited Commissioners to attend the free film Los Hermanos on March 8 before the concert. The Inclusion and Accessibility Committee was formed at ECA about a year ago and has worked to address various concerns including holding a community forum on ways to provide a better experience for hearing impaired audience. They met with the City Diversity Commission in November. In addition to the 25 — 30 mainstage presentations the ECA has rental clients that include the Persian, Russian, and Gambian communities. Their education and outreach programs reach about 10,000 a year, plus they have summer camps, artists in school, a Dementia Inclusive program, and Saturday matinee movie events. The Inclusion and accessibility committee is trying to be on the leading edge and to reach out more intentionally with the goal of ensuring accessible arts to everyone in the community. The demographics of S. County are changing and it is important to consider both diversity and generational balance in programming and also encouraging diversity among volunteers. What can we be doing together? ECA interested in reaching out on the Hwy 99 corridor; supporting the Creative District application; fostering diverse offerings and possibly some joint events. It is important to connect throughout the year. Inclusion Committee meets third Wednesdays at 7:30 am and EAC members are welcome to attend. Discussion followed about various ideas including cross promotion and the possibility of a more informal cultural music event on the FAC outdoor stage. Edmonds Arts Commission Minutes — 3/5/2018 2 2.
