Lisa e-mailed Cliff and invited him to come to our meetings as a volunteer. STAFF REPORT (Rich was absent): Lisa asked Carrie to come to a meeting. Carrie said she would come to the March meeting. She said she had nothing to report then so she would come to the May meeting. We have had no update on the funding for Cliff's position and the surveying of the cemetery to update all of the inventory and the layout of the cemetery records. It was Carrie's #1 priority. It will be expensive and take a long time. It has something to do with the Metropolitan Parks District. Lisa has invited Carrie to another Cemetery Board Meeting of her choice. Old Business: Distribution of Cemetery Brochures: Dale took brochures to the Lynnwood Visitors' Bureau and Melissa took them to the Sound Church and to Westgate Chapel. New Board Member Update: Joyce Donaldson was not able to accept the position as an Alternate. Lisa reported that the two Alternate Positions will be posted until filled. City emails: Since the new city emails are not user friendly, Lisa will put their use on a future agenda for a clearer explanation. Senior Health Fair Report: It went well thanks to Cliff, Dale, and Melissa. Cliff did an exceptionally nice job of answering people's questions. We will plan to participate in it again next year. Memorial Day Planning: The Memorial Day Committee met twice recently. Patrick mentioned that the guest speaker, Tom Hallums, is a humble man who might not appreciate someone mentioning Tom's accomplishments. It was suggested that maybe a child or grandchild of Tom's could do his introduction. Or Fred Apgar could do it. The programs are printed and are at the Cemetery. Dale has distributed them. They were printed at a good price and came folded. Dale passed out a packet of information for the day to the Board members. Dale went over the procedures of the groups for the day. Dale's documents are on Sarah Cocker's computer. Dale will bring the pylons and flags from the school district for Lisa to cordon off the traffic. The Exploer Scouts will set up chairs at 9:00 AM and them help park cars. A motorcycle policeman will be at the entrance to enforce handicap parking. Lisa has put out a press release about the event. Dale will make his presentation about it at The City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 21st. The Memorial Day Committee will meet on Thursday, May 23rd at the Bank of Washington meeting room. The Waterfront Coffee Co. and Walnut Street Coffee will donate the coffee. Rosie Specht, Esther Sellers, and DorothyWilliamson will pas out the cookies donated by the Lynnwood Elks' Emblem Club. The Board members should be at the Cemetery by 10:00 AM on Memorial Day. There was a concern about putting flags on the niches of Veterans in the Columbarium. We need to check with Cliff to see about doing it for Memorial Day next year. Walk Back In Time, July 18th: Lisa went over the program for WBIT. Bob Stevenson will be a guide. Bob Bisnett will talk about his grandfather, Christopher Columbus Cook. Betty Gagne will be another ghost. Eventually, Lisa will create a spreadsheet with all of the information about the ghosts on it. At the WBIT, we need to mention that there are gravesites and niches available for sale. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn made by Johnson/Hoggins at 5:20 PM. Minutes submitted by Melinda Beck, Secretary. NEXT MEETING: Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 4:00 PM in Room 113 at Anderson Center.
