They honor those veterans in Snohomish County who have passed away and have had no military recognition at their funeral service. Lisa will do a press release for it and Dale offered to help. STAFF REPORT --Rich Lindsay: Dave Timbrook has retired from helping at the Cemetery. Rob Freeburn has replaced Dave. Rich is working with Cliff on making a Maintenance and Operations Manual for the Cemetery. The decaying Pine tree by the building is coming down in July or August. Washington Tree Experts will give a bid. The money will come out of Rich's budget, not the Cemetery's. Maybe they will cut the tree down to a height of 2 feet to count the rings. The tree is 150 years old according to events at the Cemetery. Rich took photos on Memorial Day and has updated the Cemetery website. Melissa has put Doug Pierce's photos of Memorial Day on a Shutterfly account. Rich is still working on purchasing a fireproof safe for the Cemetery as the budget amount becomes available. Old Business: Distribution of Cemetery Brochures: We will take a break from doing this during the summer. Memorial Day Recap, May 27th: The program was well received. Maybe next year we will not have the flags and cordons for directing people. And maybe we will not pass the mike in order to keep the program shorter. The V.F.W. will help plan the event next year. There was a discussion about maybe having volunteers help clean off the grave markers just before the program next year. Maybe next year's theme can be the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Normandy. City emails: Board members have been having trouble accessing it. Rich will send an email to I.T. We will postpone discussion of it until another meeting. Walk Back In Time, July 18th: Lisa has a spreadsheet with all of the information about the ghosts on it. There will be about 15 ghosts. At the WBIT, we need to mention that there are gravesites and niches available for sale. Board members should each bring 2 dozen cookies. Melissa has a container of lemonade. Board members should arrive at 12:15. There will be a Cemetery Board meeting at 2:30 after the WBIT. Dale will give a community service announcement about the WBIT at the July 2nd City Council meeting. Betty Gagne will be the ghost of Mary Lindgren, a single mother of 6 girls. There will be a ghost for Christopher Columbus Cook. Family members will be there doing a wake. Dale wants Sarah Coker to make WBIT flyers to distribute in the usual places. Dale said that Betty Gagne has made a list of young people that died a tragic death buried in Edmonds Cemetery. Dale has a list of events that happened during George Brackett's life. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn made by Hoggins/Weiss at 5:00 PM. Minutes submitted by Melinda Beck, Secretary. NEXT MEETING: Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 2:30 PM at Edmonds Memorial Cemetery.
