STAFF REPORT: Carrie Hite
Carrie reported that the Budget Process was condensed to a two week period. She shared the
Cemetery Budget for 2014 in a handout. In 2009, they started taking Cliff's helper's salary out of the
Cemetery Fund. Revenues have to be adjusted for 2014. We are at a plateau on revenues --about
$120,000. There has been a $32,000 deficit in these years. We will be in the hole in 2014 due to
labor and salaries--$16,595. Carrie did a Decision Package for the City Council on how to redo the
budget=a subsidy. The subsidy will come from the City's General Fund. The Mayor will bring the
Budget to the City Council on October 1st. Perhaps the Cemetery Board should come to these hearings.
The Council might ask about the Interest of the Trust Fund to build up the Trust Fund. They might ask
about the service level of a full time sexton. We do need a full time sexton for sales purposes. The
Council will probably do a general subsidy for the Cemetery.
Carrie addressed the Reclamation Project of 2000 about the plots not used since 1950. It was a
7 year process to find the previous owners. In 2007, the City got the deeds back. In 2013, a family
came by to claim their plots ---They had their deeds. In the research process, they were cremated.
The solution was to give cremation burials next to their grandfather. It was a trade of lots and no
money was exchanged.
In 2015, $100,00 will be budgeted from the Capital Improvement Fund to upgrade the Cemetery
Records.
STAFF REPORT: RICH LINDSAY
