Meeting Minutes
June 18, 2015
Brackett Room, City Hall
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm in Brackett Room at City Hall
Members Present: Dale Hoggins, Melissa Johnson, Joan Longstaff, Patrick Kelly, Jerry
Janacek and Peggy Irwin were present.
Staff Present: Rich Lindsay and Cliff Edwards
Approval of Minutes: The May 18, 2015 minutes were approved
Chair's Report:
1. Discussion re: locating another board member. A guest who registered at Walk Back
in Time showed an interest, Mrs. Pat Shields. Joan also has two people who have
expressed an interest.
2. News article for Memorial Day & Walk Back in Time was discussed. Jerry's letter
was published in the Beacon re: Joanne Peterson's article. Jerry will invite Joanne
Peterson to the Memorial Day Ceremony next year after Jerry's letter was published
in the Beacon.

1. Someone removed a shrub that was in front of a monument that was vandalized
before 1990.
2. Costs will be investigated by Cliff for repair of monument. Dale will contact the family
regarding resolving the issue as soon as possible.
3. Rich will check on rules for families' request for removal of what they may find
unsightly.
4. Prompt removal of loaned items for ceremonies must be done as we cannot be
responsible for the items.
5. Two monument designs were presented for approval on gravesites. A stainless steel
design was approved as it is a variance to the Rules and Regulations which are
being revised. A cast glass monument was also approved.
Old Business:
1. Costs of removing large dead tree are being sought by Rich.
2. Walk Back in Time planning was discussed.
a) Betty Gaeng will do Mayor Street
b) Pre meeting at noon, starts at 1 pm, Cemetery Board meeting at 2:30 pm
c) Dale to talk about history of Cemetery. Melissa will talk about Alice Kerr, first
female mayor, & McGinniss
d) 5 minute presentation at each gravesite after talks and groups are formed. Flags
will be put at each featured site. 7 leaders are involved at this time.
e) Katie will make posters of mayors
f) Tables will be set up in garage
g) Literature will be distributed
h) Joan Longstaff will make public service announcement at City Council Meeting
i) Notices will be put in public places.

1. Discussion of Cemetery Board Rules and Regulations
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 5:10 pm
Next Meeting: July 16, 2015 at Edmonds Memorial Cemetery, following Walk Back in
Time, at approximately 2:30 pm.
