Edmonds Memorial Cemetery Board Meeting Minutes

Call to Order
Chair Jerry Janacek called the meeting to order at 4:03 pm

Approval of Minutes
• Motion by Melissa Johnson to approve August 18, 2016 minutes, seconded by
Peggy Irwin. Minutes approved.
Finance Report: August Cemetery report was reviewed and is attached.
Chair Report:
• Carrie Hite will be at the November meeting to discuss GPS mapping.
• October and November meetings will be dedicated to long range planning.

Staff Report from Rich:
• Rich researched and found that we have 679 niches. Cliff has sold 251. We
now have 428 available.
• We need consultation to expand the niches.
• The seasonal staff is gone and there is money left over to apply to stump
removal.
Old Business:

• Jerry pointed out that this year, the Cemetery Board has accomplished the
major puposes of the Board, which are A. Establish rules and regulations, and
B. Make recommendations for the improvement and maintenance of the
cemetery, C. accept gifts of money or property. We are proud of the
accomplishments.
• The Board wished to thank Jerry for his leadership and dedication getting the
Rules and Regulations approved.
• Betty Gaeng has met with the Mayor in the process of becoming a Board
member.
• Dale is continuing to check on the Memorial at the Heritage Museum for
availability.
New Business:
We will discuss long range planning in October and November.
We would like to develop a volunteer list for special events. They would not
be voting members, but would assist when possible. We can contact past
Board members or known volunteers.
• Another Board member is still being sought.
Announcements:
The Board will be thinking of a theme for the next Memorial Day Ceremony
prior to the next meeting.
