Staff Report from Carrie Hite, Parks & Recreation Director:
• Carrie Hite reported on the current status of the GIS survey. The purpose is
to make it clear what sites are available. WWU will come in after GIS is done
by Dave Rohde. WWU builds the grid so the Cemetery will have individual
sites. Then we will build a website for maps for families and customers.
• Carrie recognized Dale Hoggins, who is retiring from the Board, for his
insurmountable enthusiasm and energy for the Board. All Board members
1
agreed.
Staff Report from Rich:
• Rich reports that Westgate Chapel college students approached Cliff Edwards
and helped with crosses for Veteran's Day.
• We'll have a new quote soon to move the Veteran's Monument to the
Cemetery.
• We have 1,000 or 2,000 brochures that need the email address updated.
Carrie suggested we can have the evening staff work on that.
• Stump grinding quotes were received and work will begin in December.
• A police report was filed regarding an incident that happened in the
Columbarium area. Information is pending.
• Rich recommended engraving permanent letters on Columbarium walls.
Board unanimously agreed.
Old Business:
It has been decided that the Veteran's Monument which is being removed
from Veteran's Plaza will be located at the Cemetery in the southwest corner
in the flower bed by the office. This will not interfere with any Cemetery
activities or functions. We need to coordinate with Veteran's Plaza
committee so that it doesn't conflict with Memorial Day ceremonies.
New Business:
• Joan will work on the volunteer list, which Dale Hoggins suggested.
• Officers were confirmed for 2017, keeping all officers the same as in 2016.
Announcements:
The Board wants to give Dale Hoggins accolades for his many years on the
Cemetery Board.
The Board wants to applaud Carrie Hite for her many efforts, especially
related to the GIS survey.
Adjournment:
The meeting was adjourned at 5:12 pm by Jerry Janacek.
Next Meeting:
Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 4pm, at Frances Anderson Center, Room 123
