Call to Order
Chair Jerry Janacek called the meeting to order at 4:01 pm

Approval of Minutes
• November 17, 2016 minutes were approved with changes. Motion to
approve by Melissa Johnson, seconded by Joan Longstaff, approved.
Finance Report: November Cemetery report was reviewed and is attached.
Chair Report:
• Board approved the draft media release to recruit a new Board member. It
will be distributed.
• Jerry is going to research getting a higher return on Fund 137.
• Stump and tree removal at the Cemetery is in process.

Old Business:
• Dale Hoggins spoke to Carrie Hite and May 30 is a reasonable date to have
completed the move of the monument to the Cemetery. The dedication at the
Memorial Day Ceremony is reasonable to plan for by the committee. Dale
volunteered to work with Rich to plan and meet the requirements to move
the monument.
• Memorial Day planning meetings will be the first Monday of each month at 3
pm at Bank of Washington Edmonds branch.

• Rich will update the Board periodically regarding the Mapping project.
New Business:
• Melissa Johnson has updated the spreadsheets and contacts for the Memorial
Day planning committee. Decisions can be made at the planning meetings
without bringing these topics to the Board first.
• Joan Longstaff suggested contacting local service clubs to recruit volunteers
who would like to help with special functions.
• Melissa Johnson researched new options for regular ads in the Beacon.
• Joan Longstaff and Betty Gaeng are going to write an announcement for My
Edmonds News regarding the Memorial Day ceremony.
