Call to Order
Chair Jerry Janacek called the meeting to order at 4:05 pm.

Approval of Minutes: September 20, 2018 minutes were approved by the Board.
Finance Report: August 31, 2018 Financial Transaction Summary reviewed by the
board.
Chair Report:
• New Administrative Assistant, Carrie Haslam was introduced, she is taking
the position vacated by Cynthia Cruz.
Staff Report:
• Sexton's report available and reviewed.
• The Cemetery Mapping; continues to make progress; the goal will be to finish
it by the end of 2018.
• Columbarium repair - Rich is seeking bids to repair the concrete damage on
the columbarium.
• Rich is looking into purchasing a used backhoe to replace the old one at the
Cemetery.

Old Business:
• Discussed our WBinT theme for 2019; it will be called Edmonds School
District Teachers Buried in the Cemetery. We've identified 5 past teachers to
honor and will get permission from any remaining families in the area to
cover them. It was decided that 5 people to talk about is a good number for
keeping the program to around an hour and a half. Betty will do a booklet of
all of the teachers buried at the cemetery for the attendees.
• Memorial Day 2019 - the Board discussed the theme further this month and
all are in agreement to have the theme be Snohomish County MIA's from all
past wars.
• Satisfaction Survey was discussed and found to be useful in the past.
Especially the question of how people learned of the Edmonds Cemetery.
Melissa will locate an old survey to email to Board Members for review.
New Business:
• Continued discussion on recruiting 2 new board members for 2019;
• Nominated officers to the board for 2019; Jerry Janacek will remain Chair,
Betty Gaeng will be Vice Chair and Melissa Johnson, Secretary.
Announcements:
• Melissa Johnson will be on vacation and miss the November meeting.

Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 4 pm, at Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main
Street.
