1. "Climate Change: The science is not settled"
Doug Hansen is a certified geologist and certified engineering geologist. He began his studies of
global air pollution while completing his Masters of Science in 1972, and has been studying
global warming ever since. Mr. Hansen gave a presentation that provided a differing viewpoint
on global warming, and he shared data that contradicted some of the statistics that support
global warming. He concludes that the earth's climate is controlled by the sun, the greenhouse
effect is controlled by water vapour, and that CO2 is only a minor player in the climate scheme.
His resume and complete presentation can be found on the City's website.
2. Preliminary results of local commercial electric consumption survey.
Steve B. distributed a graph showing electricity output for various retail, offices, and homes for
one week in December, which included energy consumption between midnight and 6 a.m. Steve
indicated that in order to achieve our GHG goals, we must cut electricity usage as well,
particularly during the early morning hours.
