Future of Committee; role, leadership, meeting frequency, speakers 10 Minutes Meeting Minutes October 3, 2013 Attendees: Valerie Stewart, Janice Freeman, Howard Chermak, Robert Freeman, Hank Landau, Strom Peterson, Jen Machuga, Jim Stevens, Steve Fisher, Cynthia Pruitt, Rob Chave, Rebecca Wolfe Guests: Aaron Adelstein, Diane Buckshnis, Joan Bloom and Leif Bjorback Review and Approval of Minutes 1. Howard Chermak moved to approve the minutes of the September 5, 2013 meeting as written. Jim Stevens seconded the motion. Vote taken. Minutes were unanimously approved. Upcoming Presentations 1. Steve Fisher suggested we have Michael Foster w/the climate reality project present to the group. Val will bring this up at the tree board meeting tonight and see if they would like to collaborate on this. 2. Bob Freeman again recommended Mr. Gammon, Professor of Chemical Oceanography at the UW. CPC-MeetingAgenda131107.doc 3. Cynthia recommended that we review what we've done this year and look long-term at our goals. Cynthia and Val will discuss this. 4. Janice Freeman would like to see us have a discussion about the waterfront. Earth Hour City Challenge 1. Val was contacted by councilmember Bloom regarding an email message she received from a constituent about doing an Earth Hour City Challenge. Val discussed the criteria for doing this and it was mentioned that there potentially could be grant money available for something like this. Val, Jim and Cynthia will discuss this and get back to group. Committee reports 1. Jim updated the group on where they are with their success story series. Strom Peterson's story will be up next after elections. Committee Member Announcements 1. Bob freeman said there is a series of webinars going on regarding community competitions.
