Earth Dav Awards
1. Discussed Earth Day awards to coincide with 2014 Earth Day which is April 22nd
a. The intent of the awards are to encourage conservation and to recognize
citizens/businesses that make substantial efforts towards conservation.
b. Some suggestions for potential award recipients were: PCC and the Methodist Church
Green Team, along with others included in the success story group.
c. Discussed how to move forward. 1) get the word out to the community 2) develop
criteria and put on website (start easy with projects that reduce energy use) 3) think
about what we might offer, i.e., listing on the website of winners, etc.
Sub -Committee Resorts
Jen's group has been working on a green resource center plan which is being proposed to the
Council. They are discussing plans for a green business program: businesses would self -nominate
and get on a list. Currently talking with the City of Kirkland who is hiring someone to audit their
green program because they are getting less and less participation. Also looking at a green
business pledge.
Steve Fisher is looking at ICCLEI to see if they have a program we can latch onto.
Meeting was adjourned at 10:00 am.
Next meeting will be Thursday, December 5, 2013.
