NW Seed Project Follow -Up
1. Discussed what our logical next steps should be. It was decided there is not much we can do at
this time until we know whether or not we are receiving a grant. Rob suggested that we could at
least get an idea if anyone is interested in volunteering. Robert Freeman said that Chris Herman is
down in Olympia putting pressure on the dept. of rev to get it right in setting up programs for
taxing solar installations. He seems to be getting some good results. Cynthia said she wants to
support this program and that she sees our role as a being a warehouse of information or
community contact. Val feels same way. Beyond that it would be great if individuals from the
group would like to participate with the process but that would be left up to them. Group decided

that once we get a grant we will push what the volunteer needs are. Rob said the City cannot
participate in the selection of contractors so we would need volunteers. Eric Teegarden and
Howard Chermak were recommended.
What Have We Done?
1. Val discussed providing a report to the council. She asked if this has been done in the past.
Recollection was that it had but it has been several years.
2. Val presented the outline of priorities and asked everyone to write -down projects that have been
done throughout the year and prior years. An interactive activity enabled committee members to
post these projects on a large chart. Please see attached breakdown of accomplishments and
photo.
Earth Day Award Ideas
1. Item was tabled
Roles and Future of Committee
1. Val reported that she is unable to continue as chair in 2014 and asked the group to think about
who might replace her.
2. Group discussed moving the January 2nd meeting to January 9t". Carolyn will find room and notice
change of date for meeting.
3. Val asked about the meeting schedule of the group. If they would like to continue to meet
monthly or go to bi-monthly. Discussion ensued. Motion was made to go to full committee
meetings on odd months and sub -committee meetings on even months with additional sub-
committee meetings as needed. Cynthia seconded the motion; vote was taken with all in favor of
moving to this new schedule.
Sub -Committee Reports
1. Outreach committee continuing to work on success stories.
2. Incentive committee still waiting for the review of the City of Kirkland's audit of their green
business program. Time is short so they don't think they will have an official program in place by
Earth Day 2014 so are thinking about starting with an Earth Day business pledge.
Announcements
1. Steve reminded everyone that Michael Foster will possibly be doing a presentation at the January
2nd Tree Board meeting.
2. Val asked the group to be thinking about leadership so we can discuss it at our next meeting.
Meeting adjourned @ 10:02 am
