Appreciation of Bob Freeman: Members shared things they appreciated that Bob Freeman had contributed to the community. Val Stewart read a proclamation that the Council will read into their record. CPC-MeetingAgenda141106 Approval of Minutes 1. Motion made by Josh Thompson and seconded by Mike Nelson to approve the minutes. Motion passed unanimously. Solarize South County Report 1. Steve Fisher reported on this project sponsored by a non-profit organization offering solar improvements to residents in Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace. Seven people have signed up to have solar installations. Next week there will be tables at PCC and Whole Foods. The last workshop for people interested in the program will be September 13 in the Brackett room at Edmonds City Hall. Energy Improvement Project for Wastewater Treatment Plant 1. Pamela Randolph reported on planned improvements to Edmonds Wastewater Treatment Plant. The plant uses as much electricity as every other account in the city. The City is one partner in an ESCO project for $550,000 in improvements. They are planning to replace compressors with high efficiency ones. In phase 2 there will be improvements to the aeration functions. See her PowerPoint presentation for more details. Comprehensive Plan 2. The Planning Board will be considering the Sustainability Element in September and passing on their recommendations to the Council. Val will work with Mike and Barbara to get input to the Board based on the CPC plan. The CPC committee will review in November again. Subcommittee Reports 1. Lifestyle: No report. 2. Sustainable Heroes: Cynthia and Mike are contacting one of the homeowners on the Seattle Green Home Tour to do the next interview with. 3. Community Outreach: The Green Building Pledge has been taken by 25 businesses in total. The committee now has decals that show the pledge was taken that will be distributed soon. Their goal is 50 businesses —thanks to Mike Nelson for his progress with this. An article will be written the next "Update on Edmonds". 4. Buildings: Jim is contacting Howard Chermak to set up next steps. Announcements 1. Val announced an upcoming marsh/shoreline tour as part of her project on October 4.
