Meeting Notes for November 5, 2015

Mike Nelson, Tony Marzano, Rob Chave, Steve Fisher, Cynthia Pruitt, Mayor Dave Earling, Janice
Freeman, Gary Ocher, Jen Machuga, Jennifer Leach, Larry Pierce

Minutes: Josh Thompson moved and Jim Stevens seconded a motion to approve the minutes.
Motion passed unanimously.
Edmonds Tree Board: Steve Hatzenbeler reported that the Tree Board was organized in 2010
according to Ordinance 3807. The goal of the board is to engage and encourage government and
residents to plant trees appropriate to the community and to help the city develop a tree code. Their
efforts are to ensure the right tree is planted in the right place. The committee members discussed
how the CPC might work with the Tree Board as well as how to work with the community to get
better understanding the next time the tree code comes before the council.
Subcommittee reports:
a. Green Resource room -a committee made up of city staff is working on what the specific
display space will look like and may elicit ideas from our committee on future display
information.
b. Zero Waste - the subcommittee met twice in the last month. They are looking at specific
goals to incorporate into the draft resolution that will go for review with the city council.
c. Green Buildings/Business Pledge - Jen, Steve Fisher and Tony met re the Business Pledge.
They are creating text for the fall quarterly newsletter. Tony is contacting businesses to find
candidates for success story interviews. One `Sustainable Heroes' interview was completed
with Eric Moss of the Point Edwards property. The committee would like to revisit all of the
interviews listed on the city's website and post pictures. It was suggested that Jim Stevens,
retiring Facilities Manager, be interviewed in December.
Announcements: Hank reported on plans for an Intercommunity Bicycle Links event - "Bike to
Health."
