2015-06-02 Disability Board MinutesEDMONDS' DISABILITY BOARD Meeting minutes 6/2/15 MEMBERS PRESENT: Ken Jones, Chair Joan Bloom, Council Member Adrienne Fraley-Monillas, Council Member STAFF PRESENT: Mary Ann Hardie, HR Manager Yvonne Chan, HR Analyst CALL TO ORDER: Chair Jones called the Board meeting to order at 9:33 am. Board Member Gary McComas was unable to attend the meeting. This is a special meeting called for the Board to review their policies. Ken Jones briefly talked about the WSLEA conference and asked that a handout he received by copied for the next regular board meeting. Ken also talked briefly about the WSLEA Conference and that the State of Washington Actuary who spoke about the LEOFF 1 retirement fund. The pension funding level is ok for now. Ken also gave the board members a copy of the WSLEA Board Policies Comparison document to use during our policy reviews. Eye Glass Policy Comparator city vision policies discussed. Decided on change: $300 every two years.. Dental Policy Discussion and change recommended: reimbursed up to $350 for two cleanings each year — each cleaning up to $175. Deductibles Policy Discussion and no changes. Hearing Aids Discussion and changes recommended: Pre -approval required. Reasonable charges based on current rates charged by Costco and warranty/insurance is required (cost to be reimbursed by the Board). If member is not a Costco member, we will reimburse for Costco membership to purchase hearing aids there. Member can contact Board Chair and/or HR staff for verbal pre -approval. Medicare Premium Reimbursement After some discussion the board agreed to set aside for future meeting. Nursing Home Care/In Home Assisted Living Discussion by board. Change: combine the two policies — require 3 quotes from LEOFF 1 home vicinity — we should also check adult family home rates — Mary Ann Hardie will research Medicaid daily rates — want facility with above average rating. Routine and Preventive Service Costs Discussion — Change: Remove this policy. Payment of Annual Co -Insurance (up to $1000) Discussion and no changes.
