2017-04-27 Edmonds Downtown Alliance (BID) MinutesEdmonds • Downtown ALLIANCE April 27, 2017 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM Edmonds Center for the Arts Room 225 Meeting Minutes Attendees: Robert Boehlke, John Rankin, Apple Catha, Cindi Cruz, Jacob Comstock, Clayton Moss, Kiersten Christensen, Petra Rousu, Kimberly Koenig, Patrick Doherty, Cindi Cruz, Carrie Hulbert Guests: Pam Stuller—Walnut Street coffee; Courtney Fischer —Zinc; Jody—Chroma Salon Call to order - 8:07 am Approval of 3/23 Minutes - Cadence moves to approve minutes, Kimberly seconds President's Report - Officer election: Kiersten nominates Kimberly for president, Kimberly nominates Jacob for VP, Kimberly nominates Petra for treasurer, and Kimberly nominates Kiersten for secretary. Results of blind vote: 8 Voted for Kimberly, as president, 8 votes for Jacob for VP, 8 votes for Petra as treasurer, 8 votes for Kiersten as Secretary. Treasurer's Report - 2017 Balance $82,066.00, Total expenses YTD $4,1 15.49 New businesses - Seattle Sugar Spa, Vanity Lash Lounge, Isaacson Law firm, Zoe Riggs Annual meeting update - • Thanks to Carrie for getting materials and everything brought together • Turnout was similar to last year • Businesses appreciated collaborating with each other on topics displayed at meeting. Information gathered at meeting will be tallied and distributed to committees. • Suggestion to start the meeting earlier to make it easier for businesses to attend • Each committee will meet before next meeting, using info from annual meeting to give updates RevitalizeWA conference update: Very helpful, topics included succession planning for boards, and board members, as well as how to effectively run a board. Recap with action items to follow at next meeting. Committee Updates - Marketing: Bus Ad campaign to go live in this week, digital campaign to start up soon as well, in conjunction with bus ads. Communications and outreach: New businesses here to be reached out to, committee planning on working thought getting to new businesses. Professional business resources: No report Grant Program: Art walk/ Wine walk, want to submit grant, timing would not work, looking into bylaws to see if board can do an early approval process to move grant approval along. Administration: three extra spots for board position, one open door, and two by appointment. Looking to fill in following weeks. City update - • Conference, for small businesses with seminars with Ed! Advertisements included on paperwork. Conference will include resources for businesses to run better such as: SBDC, IRS info, social media tools • Last Sunday a group of French travel writers came to Edmonds, and enjoyed their way through the town, had lunch, did whale watching. • A city pedestrian signs meeting happened to go over possibilities and ideas that will make the signs viable for where/how they will fit into downtown. Ed! Wants to write an RFP to get project going. • Met with Puget Sound Express operators; they want to get menus from downtown restaurants to encourage participants to go downtown and eat, shop, use other resources. • Get back on track to co -changes and bylaws for next meeting, or one after.
