UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Discussion of "Gerdon House" (209 Caspers Street) for Inclusion on the Edmonds Register of Historic Places
The Commission had a brief discussion about the new windows that were recently installed on the Gerdon House. Vice
Chair Vogel provided pictures of the new wood -framed, double -paned, glass windows that are similar in size and style to the
original windows, but not precisely the same. No new windows were added, and the window sizes remain the same.
Although the historic photo does not show the storm shutters, the sales catalogue shows that the original windows may have
come with optional shutters.
The Commissioners reviewed the information that is currently available on the home. Commissioners Livingston and
Deiner-Karr agreed to search historic newspapers for pictures and articles about the house and report back to the
Commission. Commissioner Deiner-Karr also agreed to scan the assessor notes she previously found and forward them to r
the Commissioners. Vice Chair Vogel referred to pictures he provided previously, and said he also obtained oral history N
information about the home from the Gerdon's daughter for an article he wrote on the Holly Farm. Commissioners Vogel 06
and Waite would do a soft walk around the property with Council Member Teitzel to take more detailed pictures. They all
agreed to continue their search for the original building specs from Montgomery Ward and for any large deliveries that might E
have come in at the time the home was built. Commissioner Livingston agreed to review the nomination form and identify
additional questions that still need to be answered and updates that need to be made, and it was suggested that relying on the
Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation Guidelines would be a great place to start. Commissioner Allbery v)
indicated she was unable to find historic picture of the home in the Museum's collection, but she agreed to continue her to
search.

Chair Scott summarized that the goal is to continue to update the nomination application with as much information as 2

possible inclusion on the Register.
Council Member Johnson commented that September 9`' is the last day to make on-line comments relative to the Civic Field
Master Plan. There are currently two alternatives that the public has been asked to comment on. Both versions include the

alternatives have been published on My Edmonds News.
