Code for Commissioner Attendance
Commissioners are required to attend at least 70% of the meetings in a calendar year and cannot miss
more than 3 consecutive meetings.
Absence is excused for any of the following reasons:
• Business or employment reasons
• Extended vacations of longer than two weeks
• Illness or death in the immediate family
(Though not stated in the code, we assume that illness of a commissioner is also an excused absence.)
If a commissioner does not have regular attendance, the Mayor's office sends a letter to the
commissioner to let him/her know the position needs to be vacated.
A commissioner who needs to miss a meeting is required to e-mail the SCC chairperson prior to the
meeting, giving the reason for the absence. Yoshitaka Inoue: inoueyx@comcast.net
