Call to Order 7:00 PM
Welcome Guests Edmonds Floretum Garden Club seeks updated information about a
subcommittee from the ESCC to address their inquiry. None is formed
yet. ESCC expects to meet and select subcommittee in September. The
Edmonds Floretum Garden Club offers to provide a guide for the Hazel
Miller Plaza at Old Milltown to explain. ESCC supports a small area be
set aside for a Japanese style garden somewhere in the city.

Treasurer's Report Report provided by Kody.
Correspondence Letter from Hekinan gives April 5th, 2013 as the date the city was
founded. Yoshi will respond. Carrie believes we need to send Hekinan a
formal invitation for the October delegation visit.
Official Business
Homestay Meeting: July 9t": 6pm for travelers and parents, 7pm for host
families.
Jill must schedule with Sue for a room
Homestay rules — 3 pages. Michelle will send a soft copy
via email. Review and reply date TBD.
Yoshi still needs host families.
Itinerary Draft: Rita detailed the list of activities for the Hekinan
student delegation.
A welcome party planning team is needed. $200
budget.
Jill needs to submit driver's abstract to the City of
Edmonds.
Kay will confirm the library tour with Leslie.
Rita will write a letter for ferry tickets. Beth will try to
buy tickets in advance.
Need t-shirts for commission to wear. For 25tn
anniversary will need badges or other gear. Jill will draft
a simple logo for these.
At July meeting; schedule for Farewell Party on Aug 20tn
Need program for Farwell Party

Beth needs to get final revision from Sue
Tourism: Commission will extend logo search
Jill should price rubber bracelets with
Hekinan/Edmonds embossed
Kay gathered some items for the goodie bags for the
Hekinan delegates
Outreach: Michelle gave a summary of the Farmers' Market
efforts. At this time it looks like the SCC will be granted
a small table once a month.
Fundraising: 8 Mariners' tickets sold so far. SCC needs to buy 12
tickets for Hekinan group. Our Commissioners need to
buy 2 tickets each to support this fundraiser. Carrie will
issue a press release to the local news outlets. Beth
needs to send an email to the Friends of the SCC to help
spread the word. This effort will raise $900 if we sell
100 tickets.
Gift for Hekinan Mayor: Carrie purchased, will go with Jill this summer
Grant Opportunity: Hazel Miller Foundation; should be explored to seek
scholarships for future student delegations. This would
increase student participation
Tabled 251h anniversary discussion, five year plan review, display board

CODE FOR COMMISSIONER ATTENDANCE
Commissioners are required to attend at least 70% of the meetings in a calendar year and cannot miss
more than three (3) consecutive meetings.
Absences are excused for any of the following reasons:
• Business or employment reasons
• Extended vacations of longer than two weeks
• Illness or death in the immediate family
(Though not stated in the Edmonds Municipal Code, it is assumed that illness of a Commissioner is also
and excused absence.)
If a Commissioner does not have regular attendance, the Mayor's Office will send a letter to the
Commissioner advising them that the position needs to be vacated.
