Guests: none Agenda: Amended and approved and seconded. Minutes: Minutes presented, corrections requested. Approved and seconded. March minutes will not be approved until next month. Treasurer's Report: Private fund ending cash balance is $4,072.52 with $3,300 allotted for chaperone tickets and $100 for Mayor's gift to Hekinan Mayor. Public fund ending cash balance is $944.08. Commission would like to look into having t-shirts made for the Hekinan and Edmonds exchange students. Correspondence: lyoko received an email from the Hekinan Mayor and the Hekinan Sister City Association giving condolences for the passing of Chris Guitton, former Commissioner. There was also communication on the status of the student delegations. Chair's Report: • Michelle VT said that Ray will continue as a Commissioner, although his duties will be limited and done from home for the time being. • Darlene Miller (who went to Hekinan) will host 2 girls (her homestay daughter and a friend). • Beth Furhiman emailed that she and Jeanne are ready to organize the "Friends," for the summer program. PR Report: • Kay will work on putting the Mariner Banner info at the top of the Facebook Page. • A "First Student Orientation" article appeared in My Edmonds News April 25t" and in a Beacon article with photos by Michelle Rockstead on May 1st • Michelle Rockstead's 6-minute video of Highlight of Sister City is on our new YouTube channel and our Facebook Page. Staff Report: by Carolyn LaFave • There are no January or March minutes on the site at this time still waiting for final versions. Page 1 of 2 • Frances and Darlene McClellan are working on the Mayor's gift to Hekinan, which will travel, with the delegation. • There have been no responses to the matching dollars letter writing at this time. Student Report: • Michelle R has been attending the student orientation meetings. She is looking into food and ingredient availability for the meal that will be prepared in Hekinan. • Paul communicated with our AET Lauren and will connect her with the chaperone, Karen. Old Business: Student delegation • Tickets have been purchased for the chaperones and 8 students. • Hekinan would like one of the chaperones to split their time between two homestays as arrangements had been previously made for this. • The itinerary is mostly finished. Carolyn is working on confirming events like the library, Mayor, UW tour, Dicks, Revelations, Taste of Edmonds, etc. We will fine-tune it in June. • Dates that are set are Welcome dinner on 8/8, Mariners on 8/12 and the Farewell Dinner on 8/15. We are hoping to be able to use Point Edwards. • Someone will go to the Chamber breakfast to ask for donations. • Future orientation dates for our students are 6/25 and 7/10. Fund -Raising: Carolyn will send an editable template for the matching funds fund-raiser. Two letters have gone out to date. Commissioner Recruiting: Pam Erickson met with the Mayor and will be confirmed at the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, June 3, 7pm at City Hall.
