Treasurer's Report: Carolyn gave the report. The public fund has $1034.73. The private fund balance is
$3915.26. (This includes the student donations for the Hekinan trip and the $800 from the Red Onion
fundraiser.)
PR Report: none
Student Report: Michelle R said she has attended the student orientation meetings and observed that
they were going well. There will be an extra meeting to assemble approximately 100 gift bags to take to
Hekinan.
Correspondence: Carolyn shared that the commission has received the host family assignments from
Hekinan.
Old Business:
Edmonds Delegation update: The next orientation meeting will be on July 7t". This is also the host family
orientation meeting.
Hekinan Delegation/Host Family Update: Carolyn said we are in good shape with our hosting families.
She is in the process of making final arrangements now that we know the Hekinan families.
AET Update:
• The Hekinan Commission is now referring to AET as ALT: Assistant Language Teacher.
• Jaymi is in the process of finishing up the necessary paperwork for her assignment. She will
leave in August.

• Pam will send Lauren a thank you card on behalf of the ESCC.
Red Onion Fundraiser: Paul shared that this was successful and fun. We raised $800 to use towards the
experience expenses when we have the Hekinan visitors.
New Business:
Mariner's update: Tickets are for sale but there was no report at this time.
ESCC/Hekinan T-shirts: Carolyn shared that we do not have enough t-shirts for the students that are
coming in August. The commission voted to spend the money needed to purchase more shirts.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
• Rita shared that although the Friends of the sister city is no longer functioning; there are a few
past members who are interested in participating in the upcoming Hekinan visit. She said that
those members are Jean Mazzoni, Beth Furhiman, Mariko Watts, Holly Guentz and Kay
Vreeland. She and Pam will take care of contacting them to let them know what activities are on
the calendar.
