Moved and seconded • Minutes: Moved and seconded • Treasurer's Report: Our only expense was $44.22 for paper to print the recruitment posters on. • Chair's Report: none • PR Report: All chaperone recruitment promotions are out. Press releases for delegate recruitment are prepped and ready to go pending approval of changes to student application. • Student Report: none • Correspondence: We have received correspondence from the Hekinan Board of Education. They want the contract start date to return to September after this contract period. This means the next ALT starts in April 2017 and may choose to stay until September 2019, but will be responsible for taxes during the period from April 2019 to September 2019. Continuing Business: • Calendar Planning Oct -Dec: See attached for revised version including changes to the elections timeline and removing items related to new commissioners. • Student Rep applicant: Carolyn will follow up with Dar about serving as a full Commissioner. Per the current code, he is unable to serve as Student Representative because he does not live in Edmonds proper. Carolyn has met with Council President to discuss changing the code to the boundaries of Edmonds School District. Page 1 of 2 • ALT status: Only one application was received. lyoko and Patrick will interview Michelle Rockstead this week. • Surveys: Michele and Carolyn will work to send the surveys this week. Michele suggested an exit interview -style would work better for the chaperones. Carolyn suggested we hand out surveys to the Japanese students before they leave. • City Council Presentation: The presentation was well received. Anita _ prepared a slide show of photos from the trip and gave an overview. Three students shared their experience with the Council — Sam, Jose, and Tracy. • School Outreach: Pam and Michele will be visiting Kings Schools next week. More dates to come! The sixth grade at Edmonds Elementary is interested in scheduling with lyoko for a calligraphy session and the Karyn is working with Marlene on a date for Kamishibai in her classroom. New Business: • Student application review: A new section was added to the application which outlines the requirements for applicants regarding age, grades, and ability to host. • Slate of officers for 2017: Karyn volunteered to serve as Vice Chair. Rita offered to serve as Secretary. • Newsletter: Pam and Patrick volunteered to work on a newsletter to come out in January, April and September/October. Commissioners are encouraged to bring ideas for layout and topics to the November meeting. Announcements: • More commissioners are needed. Current commissioners are encouraged to bring potential candidates to an upcoming meeting. • The December meeting has been moved to December 12t" at 6:30 pm. Location TBA.
