Call to Order: 7:05pm
Guests: Greg Lange: Greg is one of the chaperones accompanying the students this summer. He is a
teacher at Meadowdale High School. He has traveled to Japan with another school program. There are
seven students going to Hekinan (4 boys/3 girls). The last two will be interviewed on April 4 at 4pm.

Treasurer's Report: none
Chair's Report:
• There are seven students going to Hekinan (see above). The second chaperone is confirmed,
Katie Diefendorf.
• There was a table at the youth diversity meeting, March 17, at the library plaza room
• We are not going to have a Red Onion fundraiser. There were no dates available in our time
frame. Greg and the students will discuss some alternative ideas.
• There is no problem donating some of the unused materials in our stash room. Michele and
Marlene will look at what is there again this month. (please note: items can only be donated to
the poor)
• There is an ad for ESCC running at the Edmonds Theater.

Continuing Business:
A. Newsletter: There was no report as Patrick was not present.

B. April Educator Event: Michele created a flyer. Karyn is going to get it into the appropriate
teacher mail. We will be in the Brackett Room on April 20t" from 4:30 — 6:00. Flyer attached.
1) Publication update/Laura: Laura went over the current website. She will bring
suggestions to the next meeting and we will look at them and make recommendations
as a commission.
2) Sister City International: Everyone will visit the website and we will make a decision next
month.
3) Orientation schedule: Michele asked that every commissioner attend at least one
orientation. She passed around a sign up sheet.
4) Student representative: No activity at this time.
New Business:
A. Itinerary review
• We briefly covered the itinerary for this year's student delegation visit. The dates are
August 4 —16.
• The welcome dinner will be on Friday, August 4.
• There were several suggestions for new activities. Commissioners will be looking into
these possibilities and reporting back at the April meeting.
B. Host families: Since we have seven students going and they have 15 students coming, we will
need additional host families.
C. Team building event: Greg will discuss this with the students at the first orientation. Suggestions
by the commission included Romios and Mod Pizza.
