2013-02-07 Tree Board MinutesEDMONDS CITIZENS' TREE BOARD APPROVED MINUTES February 7, 2013 The Edmonds Citizens' Tree Board Meeting was called to order at 6:25pm by Susan Paine in the Brackett Room, 3 Floor City Hall, 121 5'" Avenue North, Edmonds, WA. BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Steve Hatzenbeler Anna Heckman John Botton Susan Paine Joan Bloom BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Rebecca Wolfe - excused 1. ROLL CALL: STAFF PRESENT: Dave Timbrook - Edmonds Parks Dept. Susan Paine called the meeting to order All Board members were present with the exception of Rebecca Wolfe. 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Board Member Heckman motioned for the approval of the February 2013 agenda as submitted. Motion carried unanimously. 3. APPROVAL OF TREE BOARD MINUTES: Board Member Hatzenbeler motioned for the approval of the January 2013 minutes as submitted. Motion carried unanimously. These minutes were approved during the May 2, 2013 meeting. 4. GENERAL DISCUSSION: To have a Tree Board presentation for a March 2013 Edmonds City Council meeting (likely early March ) *National Arbor Day is April 27 *Edmonds Public Works Dept. reported and estimated $90,000 spent annually on Autumn clean up of leaves *Tree Values * 5th Annual Urban Forest Seminar is on May 13 this year in Seattle *City Board attendance record, rules, and requirements *Status of applicants becoming appointed to vacancies on tree board *Tree canopy potential goals *Possible conflicts in existing city code 18.45, and ordinances 28.04, 36.46, 38.68, 19.52 5. STAFF REPORT: Dave Timbrook reported on the details of a tree inventory he completed in the downtown area. On Dayton St. from 6 Ave. South to Sunset Ave., Main St. from 6 Ave. S. to Sunset Ave., and 5 Ave. South from Main St. to Dayton St. Trees include in the right of way and within approximately 4 - 5 feet of the back of sidewalk. Inventory includes trees species and a condition rating of excellent, good, fair, or poor. 6. NEXT MONTH'S TOPIC: Tree Ordinance work on definitions 7.
