MINUTES
September 5, 2013
The Edmonds Citizens' Tree Board Meeting was called to order at 6:07pm by Susan Paine in the Brackett Room,
3 Floor City Hall, 121 5th Avenue North, Edmonds, WA.
BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:
Steve Hatzenbeler
Darcy McPherson
Roy Smith
Anna Heckman
Susan Paine
BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT:
Rick Zitzmann — excused
John Botton - unexcused
STAFF PRESENT:
Joan Bloom —City Council member Rich
Lindsay - Edmonds Parks Dept.
1. ROLL CALL:
Susan Paine called the meeting to order all Board members were present with the exception of Rick
Zitzmann and John Botton.
2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
Board Member McPherson motioned for the agenda as submitted; Seconded by Board Member
Heckman; motion carried unanimously.
3. APPROVAL OF TREE BOARD MINUTES:
Boardmember Hatzenbeler motioned to have the minutes for July moved to the October meeting.
Boardmember Heckman seconded, the motion carried unanimously.
4. AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
a. Cathy and Craig Calvert — brought up tree health and tree density at Elm Place, asked the Tree
Board to support a variance.
b. Val Stewart, Planning Board and Mayor's Climate Protection Committee — provided an update
as to those Board activities. Ms Stewart mentioned that the Planning Board would also like a
few GIS mapping layers, for the Planning Board purposes.
5. DISCUSSION:
a. ordinance review
b. Hekinan Oak update — Sister City update — we decided to ask the Sister City Commission to
take the lead on this project.
c. Draft Heritage Tree Resolution — bring back to next meeting
6. NEW BUSINESS:
a. New Member Orientation — An outline was discussed for the development of an orientation
packet/overview.
7. ADJOURN:
With no further business, the Edmonds Citizens' Tree Board adjourned at 7:55 pm
