1) Call to Order
2) Roll Call/Introductions
Julia Munger, newly hired Tree Board staff support. Works for Herrera Environmental and is an ISA Certified Arborist
(resume sent to Tree Board members). Julia plans to attend each of the remaining 2015 board meetings. [...Julia

4) Audience Comments (We respectfully request that guests limit comments to 5 minutes or less)

Please review the June and August meeting minutes and bring comments, corrections.
6) Discussion - (30 minutes)
• Street Tree Plan update: Ron, anything new to report?
• Continue discussion of goals and interests for all Tree Board members so we can try to build momentum for the
rest of the year. Emphasis on outreach and education.
• Staff Arborist: Rich Lindsay reports that Debra Dill passed the arborist exam and is now the Parks Arborist.
According to Rich, "Debra is in charge of the Parks Flower Program and is also City Horticulturist and has an
excellent background in tree identification which includes diagnosing various types of tree problems which has
been very beneficial to parks and city alike."
• New Tree Board Vice Chair needed, preferably someone who is interested in stepping into the role of Chair at
end of 2015 or 2016.
7) New Business (60 minutes)
• Climate Protection Committee meeting recap. Steve to attend CPC mtg at 8:45 am on Sept 10. Discuss potential
future partnering w/ CPC.
• Tree Board staff support, Julia Munger. Per Development Svcs Director Shane Hope, Julia's upcoming work will
focus on:
a. Attending the Tree Board's monthly meetings and helping address questions/information about tree issues —
especially to follow up with city departments as needed;
b. Coordinating/developing the Tree Board's application (with Board input) to continue being certified for Tree
City USA (need to check w/ Anna Heckman on what paperwork is required);
c. Facilitating the planning of an Arbor Day event, including ideas for outreach and education;
d. Taking summary notes at the monthly Board meetings and providing other information and support, as time
allows.
• Arbor Day observance and proclamation —We will be doing a tree planting event w/ Edmonds Parks on October
17. Suggested time 10:00 am. Discuss timing, planning, logistics. Need quick outreach to get the word out to the
community. We can contact the City's Public Information/Community Outreach Coordinator Carolyn Douglas for
help.
