6) Old Business/Discussion
Cass Turnbull presentation update from Barbara Durr. Discuss all logistics including refreshments, publicity.
• Tree Board City Council presentation, recap TB action items suggested by City Council. Also Diane update the
board on progress on the ordinance revisions we requested.
7) New Business
• Steve will go over some of the important discussion points from the meeting with Micki McNaughton, WA DNR. It
was a productive meeting that covered a lot of ground that is useful for us for future planning.
• Tree Board University. We can pursue a Tree City USA Growth Award if we all enroll and go through the online
program. I strongly encourage all Tree Board members to do so.
• June meeting planning: presentation from City Attorney Jeff Taraday covering, at a minimum, our obligations
regarding the Open Public Meetings Act and Public Records Act. Please let me know if you have other questions
for the City Attorney.
• EPA Water Quality Scorecard — there are some policies relating to tree preservation that may be useful for us.
Can someone offer to research this and bring a summary back to the Tree Board at the June meeting?
• Start discussion on Recommended Tree lists for view and non -view areas. It is most appropriate to reference
other existing standards, not create our own. And I expect we'll need approval from Development Services and
probably Parks for anything we post to the Tree Board website, to make sure we present a list that is consistent
with other policies already in place such as the Street Tree Plan.
